BSA "O" Ring Size Chart
« on: September 07, 2017, 04:04:38 AM »

Greetings Fellow BSA Owners!
 I am looking for a chart, or table that lists the different "O" rings used in BSA guns. I have several BSA guns and would like to buy a bunch of "O" rings without having to disassemble them to find out what sizes they take.

I tried using the search feature, but it told me that a search term needed to have at least two characters. Well, the "O" in "O" ring is singular...so what do you do with that? Hmmm.
Thanks!

I have never bothered to write out a spreadsheet as I use my mental spreadsheet and my vernier calipers when my memory fails or I have a springer to "improve" as the fit of the O ring piston seal can be crucial to getting a spring gun to work correctly, I often fit different sizes than those supplied in the "kit of parts" as bought from e-bay or other suppliers. Sometimes it's pure trial and error, sometimes an informed guess before the right size is found.
BSA have used many different O rings across the range mainly imperial sizes but there are a few metric sizes thrown in to confuse the issue. Quite often there is a very near equivalent imp/met O ring that will do the job in PCP guns.
As a general rule the type and grade of O rings you require are Nitrile 70 Shore hardness, sometimes listed as NBR70. Different materials or hardness will usually make for poorer performance apart from in such uses as fill probe BS008 and bottle O rings BS111 where I recommend Nitrile 90 grade (NBR90). Avoid the polyurethane types as these are less resistant to silicone based lubricants than the Nitrile rings.

Well, I dug out my spare parts box:

Air tube O-rings: 2.62 x 18.72 = -116
Transfer port O-rings: 1.78 x 5.78 = -009
Fill probe O-rings: 1.78 x 4.47 = -008
Pellet probe O-rings:

.177 = 1.45 x 2.1 or thereabouts - perhaps 1.5 x 2.0
.22 = 1.6 x 2.9 or thereabouts
.25 = 1.78 x 2.9 = -006

If someone has exact sizes for those pellet probe o-rings please post.

Pellet probe rings:
.177  2mm bore 1.5mm cord thickness commonly sized as 2x1.5mm
.22  3mm bore, 1.5mm cord thickness commonly sized as 3x1.5mm
Use NBR70 grade.
I haven't got a .25 bore barrel and pellet probe to measure at the moment so can't confirm the size of the .25 pellet probe ring however BS006 does sound small, are you sure it's not BS007? I'm pretty sure I've fitted one in the past, BS007 equates to 3.68 x 1.78mm

Hi rkr, and Rancidtom,
Thanks for posting those "O" ring sizes. I'm making a list.
