I believe something along those lines has been tried and it caused a lot of problems, and in the end wasn't worth the hassle.
I suppose the idea could be put forward again, we'll see what admin have to say /shucks 2/

You mean the applaud/smite buttons that people took serious instead of the light hearted laugh that it was suposed to be. I had one of the best smite counts ever from the .22 users but it was only a bit of fun.

like you say paul in the proper hands and context it can be a good thing

unfortunately a while back (possibly before your time paul) certain members took the applaud/smite button far to seriously, so i wont be reinstating it to the forum

on a side note there is nothing stoping members from dropping a pm to other members if they do like something that has been posted or even to the admin/mod staff team if they wish to remain anonymous and we can pass the message on  //wink//

It's not a case of all being childish, probably 99% on here took it as being either fun or a way of thanking others for their help but there was a couple who took it to heart and got upset about it. As the forum has run so smooth without it there's little point in the risk of upseting people again. As Mick said there's the pm system and if someone has gone the extra mile to help you out you can share that with everyone in the feedback section.

Yeah, Verrily I say unto thee,

Bretherin, Sisterin (in case Tippy reads this) and Otherin (for is it not said that the Way of the Holy Triumvirate is and equal opportunities religion that recognises the diverse nature of the world?), smite ye not lest ye be smitten. That didn't quite work did it?  Obviously I did not mean smitten as in to be rather taken by or have a bit of a crush on!  What I meant was, Thou shalt not smite lest others smite thee! For I have  had a visitation, a vision, a dream.  Yeah verrily I have a dream, indeed, I have a dream and I have seen the promised land!  I may not get there with you, but I have seen the promised land and let me tell you, there is no smiting there!  No there is not.  The Holy Triumvirate are greatly concerned that there is a growing tendancy for adherants of the One True Path of Enlightenment to wish to smite one another.  Smiting is reserved solely for the Triumvirate!  Liking is ok, but not smiting!

Now lets all get on with posting interesting stories, knowledgeable articles, amusing jokes and posing questions without all the smiting shall we!

In the name of the Rifle on the Left, the Rifle on the Right and the Rifle in the Middle, Airgun!

I reckon we might have to investigate anyone who "liked" the "Captain Cammo" pics.
I might suggest a new "Disturbed" member group for anyone so affected.
