Section for BSA Martini International shooters
« on: December 16, 2013, 06:02:42 PM »

There are several hundred club shooters who are using the BSA Martini International from MkII to Mk5 and ISU models. Some are over sixty years old and still shoot extremely accurately. The beauty about this Martini actioned single shot rifle is that it was built to accurate tolerances and this meant that it could shoot any ammunition designed for the .22LR. It's 'Gold Medal' days overtaken by German manufactured rifles with fully floating barrels could not and required matched ammunition to barrel frequency and top grades of the most consistent.

These BSA stalwarts mat have started shooting using one of these club weapons and may have been tempted to go to the Anschutz, Walther, Wierauch or Fienwerkbau with a bolt action and all the adjustments ever likely to be applied, but since the BSA can produce similar results (at club level) why pay £3000.00 for something that is only one or two shots better (occasionally).

A forum for .22LR target shooters using the BSA Martini International would be useful because there are no longer any handbooks to be had but for a reprint for the MkII.

The Mk's III, IV, V and ISU variations have their own set of niggles that can be traced and corrected and these need to be aired so that these fine rifles aren't junked and replaced by mass-produced German or Swiss target rifles.

Knowing where to get spare parts to keep them shooting is another interesting area for discussion.

Who knows, it might make BSA dig out some information from their archives or even sets of drawings to re-manufacture spares. /ahhh1/

You could post in the FAC section and the target shooting section to see how many current members are using Martini BSA's, if we have enough then I think a sub-section of the target section could be assigned to see how it grows. At the moment you are the only member suggesting such a section but I will run it by the other moderators and Admin staff if we have a few other members interested.
