Hi, The reg fits between the firing valve and the air res, this pushes the air res forward by 37mm which prevents the standard ultra silencer from being refitted, most people choose to use a better one anyway regardless of wether they have a reg or not but with a reg you will have to change it.

Cheers Simon.

Tench and BSAOG are only connected by the fact that Tench is a member of the BSAOG and we allow him to advertise his services on this forum in the same way as we allow others to post items for sale.

BSAOG do not as yet sell anything, so any deal done on here is by two private individuals.

That said i do recommend tench's services from personal experience and the amount of positive feedback he generates.

Thanks
Robbie  ;)

Hi Tench, i am interested in any info you can give on the improving of my Ultra .177 single shot. its ok as it goes, but I did think I would have more luck hunting with it as I am used to making do with a Mercury.22, and I always had good kills with that

I'm interested in the regulator.I want to know how much of a difference it will make, as my technical knowledge of pre-charged guns is virtualy non existant, how much will it cost and can i fit it myself?. I just want accuracy and air efficiancy. But then again who doesn't

Hi Rick, if you dont have a lot of experience with precharged guns then it is not really a self fit conversion, the price to have one fitted to an ultra is £120 inc retrun postage for the action.

Hi Tench, thanks for the info. I dont think stripping and rebuilding will be a problem I am usually pretty good with things like that.my inexperience is in what exactly it does and why or how.The mod and repair side of the gun is Just as interesting to me as the hunting.I am looking at getting as much info on the gun as possible at the moment anyway as I am thinking of a custom job, after I have finished with my Mercury. Finding this site was like hitting a gold mine  xxwoowho. There is so many guys like yourself that are willing to offer advice or make and supply parts. So if I can do it myself how much am I looking at and will i need any specialist tools that I cant  make myself.                     thanks again  Rick

Went down to simons last Sunday for him to fit the reg, only just well over a few days been testing it. The power is spot on using Air arms 5.52, I washed dried the pellets then the testing began. 30 yards I'm hitting 1" groups about 10ish mm, this is resting on the cars spoiler, same at 50 yards hitting 1" groups but using all the 1" dia so 20-25mm using 2nd mill dot on 8* mag. I have shot 80 of the pellets so far weighed 1 * by 100 then I should have had 100ish but only used 80 as the others got lobbed as skirts was damaged and still hitting 30 yards so power not droped yet. Is this about the guns limit or would I group better the a bi-pod.

Check wether your scope is px error free at the distance you are shooting, a bit of px error can lead to less than pefect groups.

Just dropped off air today Simon, got the full shot count you predicted. As for PX error free at the distance I'm shooting, no it's not the best scope. I just sold my scope to my bro and i got his £95ers don't no the make but not the best, I'm looking at getting some Bushnell legends 5-15-40 mill dots at the weekend, see what these are like.
My bro was grouping as good as me he was at 50yards i was at 30yards, but he's got a daystate .177 using my scopes
Some pics of today's test below.
This pic is a 2p shot at 30 yards and 50 yards the pellet is where it hit at 50 yards, the pellet to the left is at 30 yards just to show impact damage.

This pic shows the imprinted pellet 30-50 yards, at 50 yards the 2p was taped to a fence pole, it even imprinted the pole.

Sorry for the pics but i tuck these with the iphone and it's only 3meg.

This is testing after reg fitment, like i say the scopes i was using are not the best and only at 8x Mag hope the Bushnell's perform good for me.
Thank's Simon for a super job on the ultra .22 I'm well pleased just on the shot count a loan. when i get some proper scopes i can get me some trophy's

i have two BSA ultras in .177 and .22. I am intrested in putting regs on them. could you help with info. on prices and how to go about purchasing them. could they be fitted diy? one other thing i have read you cannot use the standard silencer with the reg. as i have tried various other silencers on the .22 and the pellet clips the baffles on every one apart from the standard.

place the silencer on a flat surface IE a table and gently roll it mate

that should give you some indication if the silencer is damaged

There's something you could try, Have you a length of rod that can fit up the barrel, something fairly straight and not a tight fit? If you have place it up there with the BSA sliencer on, with the gun level take a look at the gap between the bottom of the rod and the muzzle of the silencer, do the same in 90 degree steps, if the gap remains the same then I'm at a loss, if it changes, then the thread on the barrel could be out of true. Difficult to see how that could be though.

Are you putting the slincers on without anything else, i.e. no washers or O rings?

no i am not putting any washers or any thing on the barrel before the silencer. the bsa silencer is ok its the other silencers that do not work. so i will probably need a 5mm rod of some kind to try and test the other silencers.

What I'm thinking is that if the thread is off axis, then the much shorter BSA silencer might could be clearing, where all the longer ones aren't

I would think if this barrel was put in the lathe and the mating face licked it would be sorted.

Hi Dave, your .22 ultra will do about 100 shots all at full power before it comes off the reg, the turnaround is about 1 week.

Cheers Simon.

thanks simon ...i did forget to mention that i use 2 different types of pellet..would this be a problem

the first type is the dynamic pcp2 due to most of what gets shot is for feed for my birds and myself (lead free like my jeep)

the second is powerpels for plinking and stuff that had being shot and not for consumption

can you set the gun to both without loosing to much ft/lb
