Simon

Thanks again for fixing my PCR1 and for showing me that very sexy little s200, you have got to put some pictures on here so everyone else can see it. I still can't believe it's smaller than an ultra and about 150 shots.

Cheers

Hello to one and all, I would like to post my thanks to Tench for a friendly and professional service when he recently fitted a regulator to one of my rifles. I recieved the rifle back exactly when he said I would with exactly what he said he would do having been done to a very high standard. I have yet to properly zero and test the rifle due to the weather but my initial power tests etc are spot on. An absolute gentleman to deal with.
Again, many thanks Tench.
Cheers,
Chris.

Another thankyou to Simon "TENCH"...........
« Reply #44 on: November 23, 2009, 08:45:43 PM »

I don't know where to begin really, what I say will surely be something that has already been said before......

Simon (Tench) is a true gent & genius of the highest order, he goes beyond the realms of what is required in any amicable business deal, I feel not only have I met a wizard of BSA (and other) Rifles and their workings, but also someone who I would be glad to call a mate!

When I first met Simon in person, at the Anston BSAOG meet, I had already popped the question (via previous Pm's) of wanting something a bit different, that ultimately would be my HFT use only rifle (So consistency was of the uppermost importance)....He basically said to me, "have a think about what you want and I will build it for you".....So I did, I decided I wanted something that was BSA Ultra size and weight, single action, with an impressive shot count, that was deadly accurate.....Oh and a subtle bit of bling too xvxvxvn............He came up with:

The TR-RSU1 (It is now called the TR-RS1...I'll get to that in a bit).......

The Rifle consists of a Tench Reg (TR) mounted inside an R10 Reg Housing (R), Complete with toast rack, this is bolted to a Scorpion (S) Single Shot (1) breech, a Lothar Walther barrel (donated from a Webley Raider) was machined to fit, he then added the bling bits ;D..... Now the (U) was the original stock from an Ultra which was modified to take the R10 Reg & Gauge, even though the Ultra stock was a great practical stock for the Rifle, I felt it didn't give it the justice it deserved, so I picked myself up an R10 stock, the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 Scope was purchased off Pete, also through Simon, although I do owe Pete a big thanks for getting it down to Simon in time for him to mount it for me and have it ready for the Airgun-Tec meet @ Furness Mill (I'll get to that in a bit too rolleye0012) !!!!

So here it is my new TR-RS1 In all essence a Tench Regged, Single Shot R10.......

Not only did Simon build an amazingly consistant rifle, he also gave me a plathora of information regarding scope mil-dots and the understanding of trajectory and mapping those to the scope reticule using chairgun to its fullest extent & beyond ;D
Like I say, beyond the realms of what was needed, but I'm so glad he did ;D

Back to the Airgun-Tec meet @ Furness Mill, (this is where I first set eyes on the rifle and used it for the first time), anyway the end result was I finished in second place (in the open class) with a 48/51, I know why I did not come first, not because of the rifle for sure, but because I'm not as good as Simon......... ;D

.......Yet! rolleye0012 ;D

Thanks again mate!

Mark

« Reply #46 on: November 26, 2009, 12:40:43 AM »

Decided to get my Ultra "TENCHED" earlier than I wanted to, but wasn't happy with gun as it was and couldn't wait any longer  :-\
So after a long drive from Dartford up to Simon's in Derby, I sat and watched, and listened, to a master at work !!!
What a really nice fella and so knowledgeable and giving with everything 'gun' related. I'm very new to shooting but could understand, I think, most every bit of info freely coming my way. It was worth the drive I can tell you, much better than waiting for 'Pat' to knock with a package  ;D
I could go on, but most good things have been said by better blokes than I, so if you're thinking about it, don't think any more  ;) just get it to Simon, you'll not regret it.

Thanks Simon, you are the "MASTER" !!!

Regards

Chris

Just like to say thanks to Tench for the good work he did on regulating my Ultra. I didn't forget you Tench I just didn't get to try it until yesterday! A good day spent zeroing and data gathering. On the second charge up of the day, mag 5 went exactly where mag 1 had. General results were 50p groups at 30 yrds, prone, on bipod with a 9 mag scope (outdoors). The rifle is great! Does anyone know where I can get myself Blueprinted?

Check your scope is px error free at that range as you should be able to improve on that accuracy with either a better pellet or the scope fine tuned for the distance.

Cheers Simon.

No px adjustment on this scope. Considering new scope (possibly with higher mag). Was pellet picking from the tin on the day but will do that in advance in future ( especially as i have a set of pellet scales I've never used!)

Me and my boy learned ever so much in the couple of hours
spent with Simon today.
There cant be any doubt, Simon could strip a ultra blindfold :D it really is
amazing to see how quick he takes one to peaces.
So, we came away with an increased knowledge and a drastically improved gun ;D

Thanks again Kev and Ben

Your welcome Kev + ben, i found the pin after you had gone, it had found a hole and snuck under the cloth covering on the bench!! so i managed to make my spare gun complete again after robbing one from it, which is a good job because i sold it this afternoon!!

Cheers Simon.
