What was your first BSA airgun...?
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:54:55 PM »

Mine was a BSA Mercury S in .22 a very pointable accurate gun or is that just nostalgia talking....!

Wonder what happened to it - think my Mum gave it away when i left home for college - she always hated guns in the house.

Bsa lightning deluxe, bit of a restoration project when i bought it, had been severely neglected, cracked stock blueing was terrible, brass trigger had been removed, breech seal removed etc etc, spent a fortune restoring it but it was well worth it. Sweet as a nut didnt miss a beat. Unfortunately sold it to fund an S10, woulda held onto it if i coulda afforded to but hey ho.

My first (that I purchased) was a BSA super10 Mk2.

Was knocking tin cans over with break barrels as a kid in the 70's.  No idea what they were though.

A Cadet major in 1965, it was already about 10 years old then but I used to knock half-pennies off the top of gate posts in my old father in laws small holding.  I still have it, and it's still accurate!!

shot quite allot of different rifles, air, cap, and cartridge as a a kid, then one day a friends  granddad showed us his old BSA standard .177 i was very impressed it felt like a full rifle, just operated by air, that was over 40 years ago!
I now need light rifle to deal with vermin as i believe poisoning a long drawn out dispatch, only one air rifle sprung to mind(excuse the pun!).I have been able to obtain a one owner BSA 1935 .22 standard, completely oridginal, with a no 8 peep sight, foresight protector and a box of spares and tools, well used and very well maintained(the old boy was a barrel maker for Holland and Holland in West London). My first, last and only air rifle..............though???? what is that r10 that keep on cathing my eye

Scorpion SE, but I remember drooling over the Meteors and Comets in the 80s at the local RFD so that may have influenced my decision even if I didn't have the money then.

Webley Hawk MK2 with both 177 and 22 barrels, they came with both which simpy screwed into the breeck block so took seconds to change and ages to get the front sight lined up again so I had to buy my first scope. Then I swaped it for a Mercury.

Superstar .22 second hand in mint condition for £175 seemed like a bargain at the time, just a shame I didn't know what I was doing when I bought it! Although it did give me the basics of airgunning it wasn't until ten years later I bought a 97k in .177 that I really started to learn!
